History of St. Catherine University
The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, under the leadership of Mother Seraphine Ireland, founded St. Catherine University (originally called the College of St. Catherine) in 1905 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The university is named for St. Catherine of Alexandria, a 4th century Egyptian lay philosopher who suffered martyrdom for her faith.
St. Catherine University offers degree programs through the College For Women, College For Adults, and Graduate College. Throughout its rapid growth this century, St. Kate’s has remained committed to the fundamental platform on which it was built – the university’s mission, heritage and reputation for academic excellence.

St. Kate’s has given me more confidence to lead and a voice to represent as a minority student. It’s helped me grow into my role at work. Having knowledge has pushed me into exploring other positions. Growth makes you feel more prepared. I can definitely sense the support from my peers and that it’s a strong network. A network has its own power that is limitless.
